I purchased my tractor from a private party and only received one key. While working on my property i recently lost that key. Is there a code built into the serial # of the machine that i could bring to a dealer for a replacement key? If not does anyone have any idea how i can get a new key without tearing the ignition out of my tractor? Is it more practical to just replace the ignition? thanks in advance, Tom.

Anytime I buy anything, new or used, that uses a key, I make a couple keys. Being I have an extra, I never loose one. Besides I put a piece of chalk line on the key and throw it over the throttle or a switch knob of some kind.

a tractor isn't like a car.just find a dealer and buy one.i had a 1550 in the mid 90s.i just bought a zd 28 zero turn.uses the same key.good luck ....

Equipment keys in general have a limited number of codes or one key for each model. I believe the Kubota dealer should be able to furnish you with a new key. ....

Yep my New Holland key will fit it, same with a John Deere Key. Its a universal O turn key. ....

My used Ford came with only one key. Some other stuff was being shipped a couple days later so I asked the dealer for a duplicate key. 'OK, we'll send one along' he says. 'Don't you need to know something else' I say? Apparently not since the key showed up. I think that tractor keys are more safety things than security things. ....
